About Same Deutz Farh Sdf
The SAME (Società Accomandita Motori Endotermici) company has its headquarters in North Italy, in an area where the business was established in 1927, when Francesco and Eugenio Cassani developed the Cassani tractor, one of the world´s first tractors with a diesel engine. Then in 1942 SAME was established and they started to design and build petrol and diesel engines for applications such as ploughs, cranes and fire pumps, however by 1946 they introduced their first petrol powered motor mower with a power of just 8hp. In 1952 saw the birth of the first ever massed produced standard tractor with 4 wheel drive, the DA (Diesel Air) series, these were later replaced with the DA30 models. The colour scheme used on DA30 tractors started out as orange body work with green wheels but is was later changed to red body work and wheels with the engines being painted grey. SAME continued to grow as a company with the acquisition of Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A. in 1973 and the Swiss Hürlimann Traktoren company in 1979 which brought on a name change to Gruppo SLH (SAME Lamborghini Hürlimann) making them the second largest Italian tractor manufacturer. One of the most popular model ranges was the SAME Explorer which was quite fast for a modern tractor (40kph) and was equipped with a four wheel braking system. In 1995 the purchase of the Deutz Fahr brand brought about another name change to SDF (SAME Deutz Fahr). The company again grew with the acquisition of Grégoire (France) in 2011. Production, sales, after-sales and the distribution of spare parts are overseen by eight production sites (in Europe and Asia), 13 sales subsidiaries (in Europe, Asia and North America), one joint venture in China and one in Russia, 155 importers and over 3,100 dealers around the world.
